Magens Bay is on the north side of the island, about a 20 minute drive up and over the mountain from town and the cruise ship docks. Taxis run all day.

Driving. There is parking at the beach, and the park charges admission at the gate. Remember to drive on the left.

Private taxi. Arrange one in advance to skip the long lines. You can also add a round trip ride to your booking.

Public taxi (safari taxi). Cheaper than a private taxi, but it usually takes longer because of lines and waiting for the vehicle to fill. Plenty run to and from town and the cruise ship docks.

Taxi fares are per person, so agree the fare with your driver before you leave.

Sailing that evening? Head back early. Taxi lines build in the afternoon, and the drive back over the mountain takes about 20 minutes.

A curved beach of powdery white sand and clear turquoise water, surrounded by a nature reserve and protected from rough ocean currents by a long peninsula. Magens Bay is regularly rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world.

The park covers 319 acres, including Magens Bay beach. It is operated by the Magens Bay Authority, a quasi-government agency.

Yes. The Magens Bay Authority charges an admission fee at the gate to fund the park's operations and upkeep, so it always looks its best. That is separate from anything you book with us.

Tourist season, December to April, brings the most traffic. The busiest days are usually when several cruise ships are in port. For the latest ship schedules, see the WICO ship schedule.

We are locally owned and operated, here to give you a high quality island day. You will find us on the beach, very close to the park's main entrance and the sea.

Beach chair, lounger and cabana rentals for the full day. Every option and price is on the rentals page.

Beach towels, sunscreen, beach toys, snorkel masks, bathing suits, shirts, clothing and souvenirs. Magens Bay Boutique is right behind where the beach chairs are rented. See the gift shop page.

A chair reservation is for the full day, 8:00am to 4:30pm, no matter when you arrive. Arriving later does not cost less. Reservations may not be resold to others.

Any day up to 180 days out. Availability is live, so what you see on the booking page is what is actually left on the sand that day.

Same day reservations are not available online. On the day it is first come, first served at the rental stand. See "When is the beach busiest?" above.

For more than 10 people, use our groups page. You can request to keep your group together or set apart in different ways.

Yes. When you book, add a request such as "front row preferred" or "closest to taxi drop-off". The drop-off request helps anyone who finds walking across the sand difficult.

Date changes are free up to 48 hours before. Reply to your confirmation email or call us on 1-340-714-5326. Refunds are given for named storms in the area, or if the beach is closed for any reason. The full terms are on our policies page.

Cabana — Two Person Clamshell sells out regularly. There are only 5 of them, and on a busy day they go early. Chairs are rarely a problem.

Find our team at the rental stand on the sand. Give them the name on the booking and they will point you to your setup, which will already be out.

Rentals start at $20.00 a day. Every price is shown on the rentals page and on the booking page before you commit to anything.

A 18% charge added to the rental total, shown as its own line before you book so there is nothing to discover at the end.

No. There is no sales tax on beach rentals in the US Virgin Islands, so the total you see is the total you pay.

Yes. Fairchild's is an open air restaurant right behind where the beach chairs are rented, open 9:00am to 4:00pm. Call them on 340-998-0010. You are also welcome to bring your own food and drink, as long as there is no glass.

Sheds with charcoal grills, picnic tables and electrical outlets are rented through the Magens Bay Authority.

No. The Magens Bay Authority sets the areas where our chairs can be placed, so they cannot be moved to other parts of the beach.

Only in the smoking areas set by the Magens Bay Authority.

No. The Magens Bay Authority does not allow glass bottles, containers or drinkware on the beach or anywhere in the park.
